Membership kick-off at the Colfax Center on Sunday Sept 11, 2-4 pm. Please join us at 3 pm to hear Dr. Ellyn Stecker to speak on women’s health issues in the news.

Sept. 22. Co-sponsorship of Elk’s Club candidates’ forum: The local REIA Chapter is having a “Meet the Candidates” meeting, co-sponsored by AARP on Sept. 22 at the Elks, 3535 E. McKinley at 6:30 p.m.

October:

October 13, 5:30-6:30 pm, Chocolate Café Production Room: Arthea Estridge, General Education Program Director at Brown Mackie College, speaks on “Bridging Socioeconomic Differences.”

November:

Sunday, Nov. 6, 2-3:30 pm at the South Bend Engman Natatorium: Charlotte Pfeifer, is an associate faculty member and the director of Judicial Affairs at Indiana University South Bend, and former City Council member, speaks on “Getting Involved: Can a small group of committed, thoughtful citizens STILL change the world?” (Margaret Meade)

Nov. 9, 6 pm at IUSB’s Student Activity Center: IU South Bend’s Annual Gloria Kaufman Memorial Lecture: Betty Cockrum, President of Planned Parenthood of Indiana, will speak on women’s health issues in the news.

January:

February:

Feb. 16, 17, and 18: Attend (and host a table at) the Michiana Monologues at IU South Bend, 7 pm, in the Northside Recital Hall, 158.

Feb. 25, 10:30 am, group tour of the new exhibit on health fads titled “Elixirs, Gadgets and Glamour,” at the South Bend Center for History, followed by lunch together.

March

March 22, 5:30-6:30, Chocolate Café Rockne Room. Talk by new President and Publisher of the South Bend Tribune, Kim Wilson: “Are You a Journalist?”

April:

April 12, 7 pm, Dr. Kelcey Parker, IU South Bend professor and author will read from her short story collection, For Sale by Owner, 7 pm in the IUSB Faculty Lounge, Wiekamp 3001.
